The Rejection Show Summerfest Intro

6/21/2006

Mortified & Swollen Head tonight

Come to the Tank and see Mortified & Swollen Head back to back, not in that order!

After Swollen Head I will step out of the "directors" booth (or rickety wooden box with a tape deck in it) and land on stage to read some of my teenage journal entries as part of tonight's Mortified.

Here is some more info on these two unique shows:

The 2005 ECNY Award Winner for BEST ONE PERSON SHOW, 'SWOLLEN HEAD' returns this June for a one month run at The Tank.

It's a secret that was kept for a long time.

When he was 11-and-a-half, Rich Zeroth was diagnosed with a rare brain disease called encephalitis. As a result he missed 127 consecutive days of 5th grade.

That part everyone knows.

This June, he will let you in on his deepest, darkest, secret. He wasn't really sick at all.

He was faking the whole thing.

In 'Swollen Head' Rich Zeroth comes clean about everything from pretending to collapse in the doctor's office to making an appearance at the school play which was dedicated to his good health and fast recovery.

How did he do it? Why did he do it? And what did he do with all that free time?

If telling a bunch of strangers the truth behind his encephalitis isn't enough. . . wait until you see the REAL HIDDEN CAMERA surprise ending.

The Rejection Show "Comedians Edition" Tonight

The "Summerfest of Rejection" continues this Tuesday, June 13th with a special lineup featuring some of NYC's favorite comedians.

"On the surface, The Rejection Show is a mere demonstration of unsuccessful work by usually successful comedians, writers, filmmakers, and cartoonists. Deep down, though, it provides an interesting look into the thought processes of magazine editors, network executives, and others who wield power. Films rejected by festivals, cartoons that never made it to press, and comedy sketches that weren't good enough for TV all finally see the light of day, some more deservedly than others."
–THE ONION
